This book was originally published prior to 1923, and represents a reproduction of an important historical work, maintaining the same format as the original work. While some publishers have opted to apply OCR (optical character recognition) technology to the process, we believe this leads to sub-optimal results (frequent typographical errors, strange characters and confusing formatting) and does not adequately preserve the historical character of the original artifact. We believe this work is culturally important in its original archival form. While we strive to adequately clean and digitally enhance the original work, there are occasionally instances where imperfections such as blurred or missing pages, poor pictures or errant marks may have been introduced due to either the quality of the original work or the scanning process itself. Despite these occasional imperfections, we have brought it back into print as part of our ongoing global book preservation commitment, providing customers with access to the best possible historical reprints. We appreciate your understanding of these occasional imperfections, and sincerely hope you enjoy seeing the book in a format as close as possible to that intended by the original publisher.

This is a book of it's time and thus a bit too wordy. Also a book for children of the late 1800's or early 1900's and I don't think children would enjoy it today. The cheerfullness and the jokes are too simple I would think. Not to be compared with "Little Lord Fauntleroy", "The secret Garden" or "A little Princess", which are still very enjoyable.Product details

Rackettypacketty house as told by Queen Crosspatch Frances Hodgson Burnett Harrison Cady Books Reviews
I loved this little book as a child and didn't think I'd ever find it again. The illustrations are so delightful and the story line equally so. A children's book from another time and place but a message for today.
I love this book! a kindergartener could read it but as a 6th grader it is nice to read "little kid books" once in a while.
Short and sweet, with a great lesson implied but not stated. A good way to teach kids about contentment and being cheerful even in difficult circumstances. A classic for sure.
This is a short, quick read story. I think little girls would love it. About a doll house and the dolls that live in it.
Me Burnett is such an amazing story teller. She never disappoints. In a world where stories have become action adventure, sex to sell Burnett sweet stories are refreshing and amazing.
Children today do not appreciate a really wonderful dolls' house. But this story might do it for them. I loved this tale. It's like Toy Story set in the late 1800's or very early 1900's. Very highly recommended!
I checked out Racketty-Packetty House from the library. It was a sweet story and my 7 year old daughter loved it. She read it in one sitting. Her reading level is 5th grade. This edition is a thin paperback with pretty small type and no illustrations. I did expect that for $2.50, but I had hoped for a little larger type and a few black and white illustrations. There aren't any. So, I wouldn't recommend this edition. The stories and vocabulary in this book are great for advanced 2nd and 3rd graders, but not with this size type.
Instead, I'd recommend this edition of the Racketty-Packetty House The Racketty-Packetty House 100th Anniversary Edition The illustrator who illustrated this book also illustrated the Cobble Street Cousins books by Cynthia Rylant A Little Shopping Ready-for-Chapters (Cobble Street Cousins), which I'd also recommend for young girls this age range. They're very sweet early chapter books.
